CHAB:
Youth
Five to seven of every 100 teenagers in the country—or between 1 million and 1.5 million teens—experience at least one episode of homelessness each year. This number does not include the young adults ages 18 to 24 who also experience homelessness. Homeless young adults are at increased risk for physical abuse, sexual exploitations, mental health issues, health problems, chemical or alcohol dependency, and death. The resources listed in this section will explain homelessness and the factors that may contribute to it, examine homelessness among youth, and provide some information that can be used to help homeless youth.
