This video features three presentations focusing on SAMHSA's Recovery
Support Strategic Initiative, the Co-Occurring Mental Health and
Substance Abuse Disorders Knowledge Synthesis, Product Development &
Technical Assistance (CODI) contract, and finally concludes with a
presentation on the alignment of PATH data with the U.S. Housing and
Urban Development's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
A.
Kathryn Power, M.Ed. is the Director of the Center for Mental Health
Services (CMHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA), an operating division of the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services (DHHS). CMHS provides national leadership in
mental health promotion, mental illness prevention, and the development
and dissemination of effective mental health services. Director Power
leads a staff of professionals in facilitating the transformation of our
nation's mental health care system into one that is recovery-oriented
and consumer-centered, and serves as the lead for the Recovery Support

Next,
Deborah Stone, Ph.D., Social Science Analyst, Center for Mental Health
Services (CMHS), SAMHSA and Onaje Salim, LPC, MAC, CCS, Public Health
Advisor, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), SAMHSA provide an
overview of the CSAT/CMHS Co-Occurring Mental Health and Substance Abuse
Disorders Knowledge Synthesis, Product Development & Technical
Assistance (CODI) contract. Interesting updates provided on contract
activities, including opportunities for joining innovative Learning

Finally,
a two-part presentation draws on the expertise of two individuals whose
work will impact PATH data reporting and collection as the program
moves towards integrating the Homeless Management Information System
(HMIS) as its tool for PATH program data collection and reporting. Julie
Hovden is a Program Analyst in HUD's Office of Special Needs Assistance
Programs. Ms. Hovden's primary areas of responsibility are
implementation and project management of the electronic grants
management system, HMIS policy development, and coordination of
technical assistance activities.
Bernie Bluhm, M.Ed., has been
involved in social work and program management since 1976. Since 2007,
Mr. Bluhm has been the State PATH Contact for New Hampshire. In addition
to his role as State PATH Contact, Mr. Bluhm also provides oversight
for two of New Hampshire's three Housing Opportunities for Persons with
AIDS (HOPWA) grants, and is the grantee representative for the New
Hampshire Homeless Management Information System.
The
presentation addresses how PATH data aligns with the U.S. Dept. of
Housing & Urban Development's (HUD) Data and Technical Standards and
the implications for the PATH Annual Data Report followed by small
group, round table discussions. A facilitated discussion follows the
presentation aimed at obtaining feedback about the updated PATH Annual
