Addressing Homelessness, Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders – Is it Time to Add Primary Care Services to The Mix?
Why is it important to integrate primary care with services for mental health and substance use disorders? This webinar, held November 18, 2010, discussed the need to improve the health status of the people we serve, who are at risk for early death and chronic medical conditions. A review of the research summarized what is known about the risk and how we can improve quality and overall healthcare system costs. The webinar discussed models for integration and bringing primary care into agencies that focus on treating mental health and substance use disorders. Within this Webinar participants will hear a SAMHSA primary care grantee’s journey toward providing integrated primary care—practical details, barriers encountered and lessons learned. Resource links and opportunity for discussion with the presenters will provide you with ideas about next steps.
