This manual provides detailed information and strategies employed by individuals and organizations around the globe working across ethnic and cultural differences to eliminate mental illness and improve access to and quality of treatment for people from different racial, ethnic or cultural backgrounds. This manual presents the latest research about culture and mental illness as well as practical and practiced approaches to reaching across difference to ensure that all people with mental illness and their families receive quality treatment and supports. These documents have been designed as a tool to help NAMI state offices and affiliates to better understand what is involved in the American Indian and Alaska Native outreach and aid in the creation of outreach plans.
