This FREE HRC webcast, which aired on Thursday, March 25, 2010 discussed how to operate a peer-run supportive housing program for families based on the Housing Options Made Easy, Inc. (HOME) model in Western New York State.

This webcast highlighted one of the largest peer-run housing provider agencies in the country. Housing Options Made Easy (HOME) operates a highly successful, innovative supportive housing program for individuals and families with mental health issues. During this webcast, presenters shared information about best practices within the program.

About the Presenters

Joseph Woodward
Joseph is a peer leader in New York State with a B. S. in mental health program development and evaluation. He has also completed courses toward a Master of Divinity degree. He has over 25 years of experience working in substance abuse and mental health in various administrative positions. Mr. Wodward has been Executive Director of Housing Options Made Easy, Inc since 2006. He has hosted a weekly radio show and authored numerous articles on “Wellness through Relationships.” Mr. Woodward was recently hired in Washington State as a consultant to provide training on peer/provider partnerships and offer technical assistance related to housing issues. Mr. Woodward is well known for his ability to develop effective, innovative peer services.

Laura Bentley
Laura has been an employee of Housing Options Made Easy, Inc. since 1999, when she started as a peer advocate. For the past three years Ms. Bentley has served as HOME’s Training Coordinator. She has facilitated many self-help groups and provides advocacy and empowerment personalized training in six counties of NY. These trainings are geared toward peers, peer workers, and staff of traditional treatment agencies. Ms. Bentley has attended Jamestown Community college and is also a published poet. She has completed training in Person Centeredness, Person Medication, Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), and Intentional Support.
