Description:
In this report, the author discusses the severe health disparity experienced by Native Americans, and their disproportionate representation among numerous high-needs groups, including the homeless. This report describes some of the key factors contributing to this growing inequity and then explains, in general terms, how health services are delivered to Native Americans. The author also discusses the barriers preventing adequate access to those services. Interviews with individuals providing health care to Native Americans who are homeless are used to offer some tentative solutions for overcoming access barriers in the short-term. (Author)
