Homeless in Montana: a Report
This report discusses the results of the annual Survey of Montana's Homeless. The demographics of survey respondents, a list of factors that commonly precipitate homelessness, and a description of several obstacles that contribute to homelessness are included. The authors discuss several influences on homelessness, including poverty and lack of low income housing. Service needs, loss of system support and special populations, including single mothers, persons on disability, people who are mentally ill, veterans, and minorities, are also discussed. The authors also list the next steps needed to address the homeless problem in Montana, which were decided upon at the fourth National Policy Academy on Chronic Homelessness.
