In the community where I reside as a homeless female we are enabled into poverty and homelessness by corruption and greed. Those of us who have no addiction or mental health problems are the last to be afforded housing and humanitarian effort. .Especially singles. If we think of a life boat, wouldn't it be more sensable to offer those who are capable of self support the needs of humanity thereby putting those persons in a position to assist those less fortunate with some supervision? This community is a typical example of the theories in the book titled "House of Gentlemen." Women are expected to forgive and repent for their abusers, even live with them, share with them. Should I become an addict so I can have a roof over my head, or should I have a roof over my head so I can provide for myself, be productive in this community and thereby providing for others less fortunate? What would you think if you had to plan at 5PM where you can sleep so you could use a restroom within a half an hour upon awakening? Imagine, waking up in the morning and the first and best that you do for your body is urinate and eat and there is no place to do that? Who's child am I training? Do I care?
