The National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD), founded in 1983 as a not-for-profit membership association, is designed to advance mental wellness for persons with developmental disabilities through the promotion of excellence in mental health care. NADD provides conferences, educational services, and training materials, as well as consultation services, to professionals, parents, concerned citizens, and service organizations. Through the dissemination of cutting edge knowledge, NADD has been influential in the development of appropriate community-based policies, programs, and opportunities that address the mental health needs of persons with mental retardation. NADD works to promote services that bridge the gap between the mental health and developmental disabilities structures by seeking to stimulate public and professional interest; encouraging the dissemination and exchange of information; promoting educational and training programs; advocating for appropriate governmental policies; supporting research focused on identification, diagnosis, and treatment; and fostering the development of resources and services. The NADD Bulletin is published six times per year and is available to all NADD members.
