2445 Views
Description:
Reviews the literature on the effects of alcohol or substance abuse alone on women's health and social outcomes and examines the developing literature describing co-occurring addictive and mental disorders among women who have been victims of violence and/or are homeless. The author surveys the treatment literature that addresses access to gender-appropriate interventions for alcohol and drug use in these health and social contexts. Special attention is given to the identification of co-occurring addictive and mental disorders and victimization. (American Psychological Association)
