A nonprofit organization that promotes reinvestment and economic activity in low- and moderate-income communities nationally and locally. Founded in 1973 and based in Chicago, the Institute is nationally recognized authority on the credit and development needs of low-income communities. The Institute designs, implements, and evaluates reinvestment and economic development programs that benefit modest-income urban communities. The Institute engages in policy analysis; community economic and credit needs analysis; program design and evaluation; analysis of lending data; technical assistance for neighborhood development; and community reinvestment negotiations.
