Focus of Work:
Don Boucher is the Program Director of Riverwood Mental Health’s Housing First RI program. The program has placed more 150 chronically homeless individuals in permanent supportive housing with a 90% retention rate in the past three years. He is a harm reduction practitioner that incorporates motivational interviewing and a continuous service model within his program. Its funding has increased from $500,000 to 2.2 million dollars primarily through partnerships and collaborative arrangements. He has over 20 years experience working with homeless individuals with co-occurring disorders. He has provided direct care, managed homeless shelters, run soup kitchens, and provided advocacy for the homeless throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He has provided consultation through the Corporation for Supportive Housing in the states of Rhode Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. He serves on the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless Board of Directors and is a former Vice President for the organization. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership and a PhD in Theology, and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional in the State of Rhode Island.
